Polìtica linguìstica: una retzensione tzinematogràfica, in inglesu e in sardu.

  1. Furio Momenté, an officer of the Ministry of Justice, is sent to a town in the Veneto region to follow a delicate case: the fourteen-year-old Carlo Mongiorgi is accused of killing a child of his age, claiming that he is actually the devil.

Italy is governed by a religiously inspired party, the Christian Democrats, and the affair could upset the political balance, because there is talk of religious superstition and of the involvement of some prelates. Furio is tasked with looking for evidence that disproves this.

The officer finds only elements that exonerate Carlo: the child suffers from epilepsy, and some treatments have caused him mental problems; but he appears unable to do any harm. At the same time, Furio discovers that some   ecclesiastics are used to organize satanic rites.

-Su funtzionàriu agatat petzi elementos chi disculpant a Carlo: su pitzinnu sufrit de epilessia, e tzertas curas l’ant causadu problemas mentales; ma paret chi non siat bonu a fàghere male a nemos. In su matessi tempus, Furio iscoberit chi unos cantos eclesiàsticos organizant ritos satànicos.

Furio and the boy become friends. One day Carlo proposes to Furio to visit a deconsecrated church. Inside there is an open trap door. Furio approaches  it. Suddenly the boy gives him a push causing him to fall. The last thing Furio sees before the trap door closes over him is Carlo who, with a luciferian smile, says: “I am the Devil!”

In intro b’at una trapa. Furio si b’acùrtziat. Totu in unu Carlo li dat un’imberta e nche lu faghet rùere a giosso. S’ùrtima cosa chi Furio bidet in antis chi sa trapa si serret a subra suo est Carlo chi, cun un’iscantzada de risu lutziferina, narat: “Deo so su Dimòniu!”

This ending was for  me totally unexpected, because Carlo seemed a totally harmless person.

-Custu finale deo no mi l’isetaia pro nudda, ca Carlo pariat  unu sugetu a beru inofensivu.

I think other people would enjoy watching this film, but only if they are fond of mystery tales.

-Deo penso chi a àteras pessones lis diat agradare a bìdere custu film, ma petzi si lis praghent sos contos de su mistèriu
